In honor of Libby's large number of German ancestors, we have included this recipe for a hot cabbage dish that is easy to prepare and especially tasty on a cold evening.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
1 pound cabbage, shredded
1 ½ teaspoons caraway seeds
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
freshly ground pepper, to taste
Directions
Melt butter in a large skillet with a lid. Add cabbage and caraway seeds. Cover and simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes. If cabbage begins to stick to the pan, add a teaspoon of water. When cabbage is tender, remove from heat and stir in vinegar, sugar, and salt. Grind pepper over top and serve.
